General TV Channel / Rasonic Radio 1 on 105.3FM (Hindi language) began broadcasting on August 13th, 1994. Rasonic Radio 2 on 102.3FM (Dutch language) began broadcasting on August 13th, 1995. Rasonic offers a varied program with a special focus on news and actualities in Nickerie, apart from national and international news. Rasonic also provides information in areas of healthcare, education, agriculture and cattle breeding while providing religious organizations with free air-time to preach the word of the Almighty. Naturally there are also various amusement programs in our broadcasting schedule. Rasonic Television was opened on November 25th, 1997 by President Jules Wijdenbosch of Suriname, as the first regional television station in Suriname. In October 2006, Rasonic Television expanded its broadcasting reach from Nickerie to Paramaribo, Commewijne, Saramacca, Wanica, Lelydorp and surroundings. TV West was opened on 4th of July 2013.
