Entertainment TV Channel / MBC Masr is an Egyptian free-to-air television channel owned by MBC Group. The channel was launched during an official ceremony in Cairo on 16 October 2012, and began broadcasting on 9 November 2012. The channel serves Egyptian viewers.
Catering to Egyptian viewers, MBC MASR focuses on providing refined entertainment that includes leading and popular talk shows, drama series, series, Egyptian films, and documentaries. Debuting in 2012, MBC MASR understands the diverse concerns and tastes of its audience and carefully selects content that resonates with their preferences. Following the massive success of MBC MASR, MBC GROUP launched MBC MASR 2 in 2014.
In addition to entertainment that comprises talk shows, drama series, series, Egyptian films, and documentaries, MBC MASR 2 also featured some sports offerings such as live commentary and analysis of the Egyptian Premier League.
MBC Group, is a Saudi media conglomerate based in the Middle East and North Africa region. Launched in London in 1991, the company moved to its headquarters to Dubai in 2002 then moved to Riyadh in 2022. MBC Group operates over 19 free-to-air satellite TV channels, and a video on demand service (Shahid). MBC1 was the first broadcaster to provide a satellite-based free-to-air 24-hour television broadcasting network across the Arab world. The Group's current chairman is Sam Barnett. Sam Barnett returned as MBC Group CEO in December 2020 after a one-year departure. MBC's television arm, MBC TV, broadcasts via Eutelsat, Arabsat and Nilesat satellites. MBC has more than 2,000 staff.
